Thanks to Melbourne community radio station 3CR and the dedicated work of ARKTL’s Aus Training volunteers all 15 talk-box boxes have now arrived in Timor-Leste. Last month the pilot talk-back box was installed and tested at Atoni Lifae Oecusse community radio station. The remaining 15 boxes arrived in Dili last week and will be installed in all ARKTL member community radio stations over the coming months. Aus Training volunteers Elena McMaster and Claudia Santangelo will travel to each station to install the equipment and train staff in its installation and use.

The talkback equipment was built by Riah Williams technician at 3CR community radio in Melbourne Australia and donated by 3CR staff and volunteers and co-funded by ARKTL. The equipment will enable stations to put live phone calls to air for interviews, live reports from the field and do talkback. ARKTL received funds from the Australian Embassy’s DAP program to support the purchasing of equipment and the installation of the talkback equipment at community radio stations in Timor-Leste.
